Marketing Specialist

Start pay range 45K DOE

SUMMARY

The Marketing Specialist plays an integral role in enhancing the visibility, engagement, and public presence of Life Unlimited, Inc. This position has direct oversight of the organization’s social media strategy and media relations, while supporting broader marketing efforts under the guidance of the External Relations team.

With a strong focus on content development, digital engagement, public outreach, and collateral creation and management, the Marketing Specialist works collaboratively across departments to support initiatives that further Life Unlimited’s mission and community impact.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Social Media Management: Directly manage Life Unlimited’s social media platforms, including content planning, posting, community engagement, and performance analysis to drive visibility and impact.
  • Media & Public Relations: Serve as the front line for managing media inquiries and setting the stage for public commentary. Coordinate with leadership and staff, including the CEO, to prepare spokespeople as needed. Draft and distribute press releases to highlight key milestones, events, and initiatives. Identify and pursue new opportunities for public exposure – such as billboard campaigns, radio mentions, or op-eds – to expand the organization’s reach.
  • Marketing Materials & Collateral Management:
    Lead the creation, design, and production of marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, fact sheets, signage, and event materials. Maintain inventory of printed and digital materials, ensuring timely updates and consistent availability for internal teams and public distribution. Coordinate with vendors and manage production timelines related to collateral.
  • Content Development & Brand Consistency: Support the creation of clear, compelling content across various channels (social media, email, website, and print), ensuring alignment with brand standards and messaging strategy.
  • Photography & Video Creation: Capture high-quality photo and video content to support storytelling, promotional campaigns, and digital engagement across platforms.
  • Marketing Campaign Support: Assist in developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns tied to fundraising, outreach, and organizational milestones. Provide hands-on support while working under leadership guidance.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update the organization’s website to ensure accurate, timely, and engaging content and easy navigation for users.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with leadership and department heads to identify marketing priorities and develop strategic content that aligns with organizational goals. Support key initiatives – including projects like The Trails Neighborhood – by producing clear, compelling marketing and communication materials tailored to diverse audiences. Demonstrate an understanding of Life Unlimited’s evolving service model and remain responsive to emerging opportunities, such as new business ventures and community-facing initiatives.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track marketing and social media performance metrics. Deliver reports and actionable insights to inform future strategy.
  • Marketing Operations: Help manage the inventory of promotional materials, coordinate collateral development, and support planning and budgeting efforts for marketing initiatives.
  • Other Duties: Take on additional assignments as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.

Physical Expectations

This position may require extended periods of walking and/or standing with some periods of sitting. It may require light (5 lbs.) to heavy lifting (20 lbs.) and occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or bending.

Working Conditions

The employee may be exposed to a typical office environment with occasional external events and media-related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing, public relations, or communications (nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective marketing strategies, with flexibility to adapt and innovate.
  • Experience in media relations, public relations, and brand positioning.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for press releases, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), Constant Contact (or similar email platforms), WordPress, and donor CRM systems.
  • Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Photography and basic video creation/editing experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and engage with external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Life Unlimited, Inc.
  • Must obtain a Class E driver’s license during new hire orientation and maintain auto insurance coverage as required by law.
  • Must receive a seasonal flu vaccination.
